Windows 7 OEM Price
Windows 7 OEM pricing is considerably cheaper than than upgrade or full versions. But what is an OEM version and can you buy it? OEMs are meant to be purchased and installed on on hardware that will be resold to another user. When you buy an OEM disk, you will not be given a box, only the CD. As a “computer builder” you are to pre-install the Microsoft OEM Preinstalltion Kit (OPK), install the OEM and then sell the computer to someone. If you do not fall into that category, you must use the full version of Windows 7 or the upgrade if your computer qualifies for it. OEM disks will often not be sold by retailers unless you purchase a piece of hardware that will be used to build the computer on which the OEM will be used.

Computer Repair Price
Computer repair prices can vary from business to business. But what is considered a fair price and who makes this determination? We will try to demonstrate to consumers what computer repair businesses charge and why. Clients can then determine if they are being treated fairly by technicians. The Primary factors are location, price structure, walk-in or onsite repair, faulty hardware and the actual skill level involved in the repair.
Location
Geography can be a determining factor in the price of repairing PCs. Inner-city shops will tend to charge more for PC repair than suburban shops. This is simply because everything costs more in the city. While we are no saying some shops do not have great rates in the city, most city computer repair shops will have rates that are slightly higher than the region outside of city limits.
Price Structure
Some shops will have a set rate for certain tasks and some will charge an hourly rate. The set price may sometimes seem steep compared to the hourly rate of a computer job, but if a complication arises, the set rate may actually wind up being cheaper than the hourly rate. This is especially true for repairing Windows installations that have a lot spyware and viruses.
Walk-in or Onsite Repair
Businesses will generally charge a lot more for onsite computer repair jobs. If the tech has to drive to a remote location to fix a PC, there will be extra costs involved to cover travel time and fuel surcharges. If possible, you will want to bring your equipment into a shop to potentially save time and money on the repair.
Faulty Hardware
It’s not unusual for a seemingly minor repair to escalate into a costly expense. If a tech first tells you the hard drive is bad, it will sometimes mean that something else caused the hard drive to fail–like a bad power supply, for instance. Until a tech can properly diagnose a computer, shops should explain other expenses might occur.
Type of Service
The type of job being performed will also determine the price. For instance, networking is considered a specialized trade and are generally more expensive than standard service calls.
In Conclusion
So what is a fair price for computer repair? If we would consider a tech to have a $30 and hour walk-in charge, then an onsite repair would probably be $50 and hour with at least on hour guaranteed. If you want a network installed, a tech working under a simial price structure we’re using in this example would probably charge around $75 per hour.
Be sure to shop around and make some calls. Look for a place close to your home or office and get as much information up front before you have a tech even touch your computer.

The early foundations of what would become computer science predate the invention of the modern digital computer. Machines for calculating fixed numerical tasks, such as the abacus, have existed since antiquity. Wilhelm Schickard built the first mechanical calculator in 1623.[6] Charles Babbage designed a difference engine in Victorian times[7] helped by Ada Lovelace.[8] Around 1900, punch-card machines[9] were introduced. However, all of these machines were constrained to perform a single task, or at best some subset of all possible tasks.
During the 1940s, as newer and more powerful computing machines were developed, the term computer came to refer to the machines rather than their human predecessors.[10] As it became clear that computers could be used for more than just mathematical calculations, the field of computer science broadened to study computation in general. Computer science began to be established as a distinct academic discipline in the 1950s and early 1960s.[11][12] The first computer science degree program in the United States was formed at Purdue University in 1962.[13] Since practical computers became available, many applications of computing have become distinct areas of study in their own right.
Although many initially believed it was impossible that computers themselves could actually be a scientific field of study, in the late fifties it gradually became accepted among the greater academic population.[14] It is the now well-known IBM brand that formed part of the computer science revolution during this time. IBM (short for International Business Machines) released the IBM 704 and later the IBM 709 computers, which were widely used during the exploration period of such devices. "Still, working with the IBM [computer] was frustrating...if you had misplaced as much as one letter in one instruction, the program would crash, and you would have to start the whole process over again".[14] During the late 1950s, the computer science discipline was very much in its developmental stages, and such issues were commonplace.
Time has seen significant improvements in the usability and effectiveness of computer science technology. Modern society has seen a significant shift from computers being used solely by experts or professionals to a more widespread user base.
Buying a Car with Financing
Of late, financing has become a highly prevalent trend in our society. It is an effective substitute for making cash payments and gives you an option of paying back the entire amount over a period of time by making small payments. Car financing is one of the most popular financing options people go for. Auto loans are even endorsed by dealers as they earn commission or kickbacks when you get a loan on their recommendation. Buying a car with cash is not something dealers are too excited about. But for you, it is the more obvious and logical choice as you do not have to pay any extra money other than the car cost and there is no financial burden on you as well. A detailed comparison along with few tips on buying a car with cash are discussed below.
Shopping for a baby stroller
As a new parent there are a lot of purchases you are going to have to make. There is all the baby furniture for the nursery, all the new baby clothes and there are the other accessories like buying a baby stroller. A baby stroller is a must have as it allows parents to easily transport their child safely with out much effort. When shopping for a baby stroller it is important to keep in mind a few very important things besides just the price. There are so many different strollers on the market that it can me a little overwhelming as to where to begin your search and exactly what to look for. This article is aimed to help the new parents out there find the perfect stroller for them and their baby.
Even though you do not want to base your selection of strollers on price, it is still important to figure out what your budget is going to be. Strollers can vary on price from a couple hundred dollars to around $50 depending on what you are looking for. I would recommend you start with a pretty wide price range to allow yourself a varied selection of baby strollers to choose from. If you are finding that nothing fits your liking in your current price range, it might mean you need to reevaluate what you are looking for and either go up or down in price. Eventually you will begin to narrow your price range depending on the selection that is available.

eBay’s fixed-price sales overtake profits from web auctions
It emerged during the web’s infancy as one of the most exciting — and lucrative — ideas on the internet. But has eBay been hijacked by big business?
When it began in 1995, eBay created a new marketplace for people to bid for second-hand goods, memorabilia and things gathering dust in the attic.
The website was part car-boot sale, part auction house, a place where anyone could buy or sell anything, with the cost determined by how much people were prepared to pay.
The middlemen — big corporations and established retailers — were cut out. Those with a nose for a bargain could pick up goods at knockdown prices. Cunning sellers could make a fortune as desperate customers ratcheted up the price during a bidding war.
The concept took off and eBay is now one of the most visited websites in the world, and the total value of sales made on the site is tens of billions of pounds every year. But new figures reveal that, for the first time, most sales on eBay worldwide are actually sold at a fixed price, overtaking sales through auctions — 56 per cent of sales on the site are now made at a cost predetermined by the seller.
The trend had been developing for the past few years, said eBay, but only in the past six months had fixed-price sales overtaken auctions.
Experts said that the change represented eBay’s final shift from an internet pioneer to just another online shopping store. What was once one of the web’s scrappy outsiders has become big business, making millions in profits and used more as a marketing tool by leading retailers.
This year Tesco began selling items through the site and now the likes of Argos and Debenhams are doing the same. The suggestion is that as more people have got used to shopping online, the novelty of bidding for items has worn off.
“Web companies on the whole are being very sensitive to people’s behavioural patterns,” said Paolo Pescatore, a technology industry analyst at CCS Insight. “People want predictability. For an item that’s been available for five days, you’ve submitted a bid on the first day, and then been pipped right at the post, it is annoying.”
Richard Kanareck, communications director at eBay UK, said: “Ten years ago [auctions] were fun, that was the way of getting people over the line of having a new experience, which was, ‘Hey I’m going to shop on my computer’. Ten years later that’s so commonplace that people want it to be quick, easy and mainstream.”
In general, sales through auctions continued to rise, said eBay, but in comparison, sales at fixed amounts had exploded. The company admitted that it expected the trend to continue.
“You’ve got to take into account the economic situation of today,” said Mr Pescatore. “Auctions lend themselves to pushing up prices, and people can’t afford to be spending more for an item where they feel it can’t be justified.”
According to Nielsen, the market research company, about 18 million people in Britain visit eBay every month, making it the top e-commerce site in Britain. The company turns huge profits through taking a small commission from every item made available for sale. Last year it sold $60 billion of goods. However, analyst projections and the company’s own figures suggest that profits have fallen this year compared with 2008.
Its brand has been tarnished in recent years through the activities of some individuals using the site. Common complaints are of buyers not paying on time or leaving critical messages on a seller’s page to put off future customers. Unreliable sellers could misrepresent the quality of an item or pack goods in a shoddy way.
In September this year, it was revealed that a global network of criminals had duped people into buying millions of pounds worth of fake golf clubs in the largest fraud uncovered on the site so far.
However, experts said eBay was still seen as the place for niche products, collectables and one-of-a kind items. Richard Holway from Tech Market View, the technology analysts, said that eBay continued to be “great for small businesses and individuals”.
