Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera: first choice
If you want a video camera that can easily fit into your pocket, the Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera is the one. Kodak is noted for making good quality inexpensive still and video cameras, and the Zi6 is no exception.
The HD videos you’ll be able to take are extremely sharp, exhibiting excellent clarity. When played back on a large-screen LCD television, the results are excellent. It’s so small, yet what it delivers is outstanding.
As always, with digital video cameras, it doesn’t do very well when you have low-light levels; but other than that, it’s a big performer. All the way from zoom to macro, you’ll get vibrant shots which rival more expensive video cameras. You can change the quality levels between VGA, which is pretty poor - but VGA is always pretty poor, to HD, and even take them at HD-60 quality, which allows you to be flexible. All video cameras take still photos, as well; but because that wasn’t their best intended purpose, that’s not the reason you’ll want this video camera; it’s a good added plus, though.
Here are some of the benefits of the Kodak Zi6:
1. Since it takes regular AA batteries, though, it can be very versatile. That means that you can purchase a separate AA battery charger, that way, and charge up as many AA batteries as you think you’ll need.
2. Also, if you run out of power, you can always purchase regular AA alkaline batteries. The batteries are depleted very fast, though, so you’ll be swapping them out all the time unless you’ve pre-charged a bunch to keep with you.
3. You have no way of storing your videos unless you have an SD card. This means it’s very expandable, though. You can purchase as many SD cards as you’d like, this way, and never run out.
4. The SD cards tend to be more expensive than a comparable Flash card, but they’re also much smaller to carry. The SD is probably the most standard size in digital cameras and video cameras, now.
To be fair, the Kodak Zi6 model does have some flaws:
1. The default mode of the camera is HD, and won’t be able to be changed to HD 60, which is annoying.
2. The instructional manual is sorely lacking information enough to learn how to use all the features.
3. And you might as well throw away the software which came with the CD, as it tends to make your computer lock-up or crash, and it does little more than let you download the videos to your computer. If you want to actually edit the videos, you’ll have to use other video editing software packages.
So, it’s main features are good quality at a very portable size. That it takes regular AA batteries is a good selling point, however, because the life of the batteries is so short, you’ll be replace them a lot. It takes very reasonable-quality HD videos which hold up well even on big screens.

However, the sound of the zoom interferes when you’re recording. The price is good, so if you’re looking for a video camera which is small, portable, takes regular AA batteries, and gives good quality HD videos, the Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera might be what you’re looking for.
