Celebrities and diets are a common theme of many magazines and tabloid newpapers. Most celebrities are permanently under the spotlight, followed by a media obsessed with body image. Celebrities seem to have the ability to rapidly lose weight – so we wonder how they do it? A new diet pill, a new diet plan, or what? Yes, we can get some ideas from these celebrities, but understand one thing – many have access to resources that most of us have no hope of. Personal fitness trainers, nutritionists, free products for endorsement, sponsorships, and of course money (often lots of it).

Diet Plans that Celebrities Use

To name a few*:

  • Oprah Winfrey has used the “Total Body Makeover” from personal trainer Bob Greene.
  • Winner of reality series “The Swan” successfully used Nutrisystem to shed 25 pounds.
  • Sarah Jessica Parker, Matt LeBlanc, and Renee Zellweger have all been quoted as being clients of Fred Pescatore – author of the Hamptons Diet.
  • Kim Cattral and Julia Roberts attribute their good skin to the Dr. Perricone Diet.
  • Jennifer Aniston (of Friends fame) is known to have used the Zone diet.
  • Bill and Hillary Clinton have used the South Beach Diet.
  • Dr Phil McGraw (of Oprah fame) has authored the ‘Shape Up’ diet .
  • Again many other celebrities have used the controversial Atkins diet.
  • Sarah, the Duchess of York has endorsed both Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers.

Movie stars, pop idols, and famous people from all walks of life have been spotted using various diet pills. It seems obvious – but just because a diet plan works for one person does not mean it will work for us. A celebrity endorsement can lend a sense of legitimacy to a ‘new’ diet plan or fad, – but can be no different from any other product endorsement (its just a commercial exchange). So What About Me?

While it is possible to lose 30 pounds in 30 days – this kind of weight loss may not necessarily be healthy (consider that we are made up of 70% water!). A sustained regular weight loss regime and diet plan that aims for small but regular fat loss is best.
